INFO: The production of Rumble Fish in Tulsa celebrates its 35th anniversary this year. Tulsa American Film Festival and Guthrie Green are proud to present Rumble Fish outdoors at Guthrie Green, Thursday evening, October 12th.

SYNOPSIS: Rumble Fish is an American drama film directed by Francis Ford Coppola, based on the novel Rumble Fish by Tulsa native, S. E. Hinton, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Coppola. The film centers on the relationship between Motorcycle Boy (Mickey Rourke), a revered former gang leader wishing to live a more peaceful life, and his younger brother, Rusty James (Matt Dillon), a teenaged hoodlum who aspires to become as feared as Motorcycle Boy.

Coppola directed the film back-to-back the same year in 1982 with The Outsiders, using much of the same cast and crew.

Shot in black in white, Rumble Fish is notable for its avant-garde style with a film noir feel, stark high-contrast and features an experimental score by Stewart Copeland, drummer of the musical group The Police.
