Natives, directed by Jeremy Hersh
Narrative short; 20 minutes.
Rachel, a self-described-liberal Jewish 20-something Brooklynite, meets her Seneca girlfriend Anita's parents for the first time, over a weekend on the Allegheny reservation in New York (where Anita grew up). As Rachel's attempts to connect to the family and prove she's "not one of THOSE white people" become increasingly embarrassing, her girlfriend begins to question the very foundation of their relationship.
Student Film: NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Tulsa Premiere.
Screening Sunday, October 18, 12:00 p.m. at Gilcrease Museum as part of TAFFest’s Contemporary Native Shorts Program (6 short films, 73 minutes).
