SYNOPSIS: One of the few Westerns to ever win the top honor at the Academy Awards, a 1931 Pre-Code Western film directed by Wesley Ruggles, starring Richard Dix and Irene Dunne, and featuring Estelle Taylor and Roscoe Ates. The Oscar-winning script was written by Howard Estabrook based on the Edna Ferber novel Cimarron.

When the government opens up the Oklahoma territory for settlement, restless Yancey Cravat claims a plot of the free land for himself and moves his family there from Wichita. A newspaperman, lawyer, and just about everything else, Cravat soon becomes a leading citizen of the boom town of Osage. Once the town is established, however, he begins to feel confined once again, and heads for the Cherokee Strip, leaving his family behind. During this and other absences, his wife Sabra must learn to take care of herself and soon becomes prominent in her own right.

Seven Oscar nominations, winner of three, including Best Picture, this free outdoor screening of Cimarron is brought to you by Tulsa American Film Festival, Kendall Whittier Main Street and TCM Backlot.

SYNOPSIS: Immigrants working in Oklahoma's coal mines brought many traditions to Pittsburgh County at the turn of the century. One of their traditions resulted in a very famous and notorious beer. This documentary features the descendants of some of the original brewers of Oklahoma's "Choc Beer".
